DASA & Code of Conduct

GCCS is committed to fostering and maintaining an environment free of all types of fear and intimidation. Given our core belief that all individuals are entitled to be treated with dignity and respect, it is the policy of GCCS to prohibit any conduct that constitutes a climate in which individuals feel fear and/or intimidation.

Dignity for All Students Act (DASA)

The Dignity for All Students Act (DASA) was implemented in New York State to ensure that schools create a safe and supportive school climate in which students can focus on learning without fear of being bullied, harassed, intimidated, or discriminated against. Our Conduct and Discipline Policies and Family Handbooks outline what is expected of community members in order to maintain a safe and respectful school community. It is imperative that each GCCS community member, child or adult, treats others with consideration and respect.

Teasing, name-calling, and bullying are grounds for removal from school or suspension at the School Director’s discretion. Each GCCS campuses houses a DASA Coordinator who will investigate any bullying situations. We understand that occasional incidents may occur, but we maintain zero tolerance for extreme cases and/or patterns of targeted abuse.
