A Message to Prospective Educators

Educators at GCCS work in co-teaching settings. We plan and teach all core subject areas through the lens of local history and science topics using the GCCS Curriculum Framework, New York State Next Generation Learning Standards, and the EL Education model. We trust our teachers to design rigorous, high-quality lessons and learning experiences for our students. 

We seek educators who:

• Want to teach in a child-centered program with students from diverse backgrounds
• Show a willingness to design engaging, hands-on curriculum, rich with fieldwork and final products
• Show a willingness to work as part of a professional community that is continually reflecting, learning, and improving
• Believe in the importance of understanding identity and will engage in analyzing their own implicit biases
• Will commit to Responsive Classroom training and the use of Restorative Practices in the classroom
